The paint industry was one of the earliest industries to start using color meters.

Various types of spectrophotometers, such as the CM-512m3 (multi-angle type for metallic and pearl colors), CM-2600d Series (for solid colors), CM-3600d Series (integrating sphere type), and CM-2500c (45/0 geometry type), are used for daily color adjustment, color management and color communication.
